Jake Bell - Jiu JItsu Instructor
Jake’s grappling background traces back to his roots in Hawaii where at the tender age of 17 he undertook Judo. He states that he always favored “newaza” or ground techniques, which made the transition to Jiu Jitsu feel very natural. Being a black belt at Pearl City High under Roy Kawaji, Jake ultimately went to the world-renowned San Jose State University’s Judo program.
It was while going to SJSU that Jake’s journey into Jiu Jitsu began. At first, he went to the original American Kickboxing Academy (on Camden), going once a week after SJSU Judo practice. It wasn’t until 2009 that Jake started taking Jiu Jitsu seriously and, along with pool of talent from SJSU, would ultimately call One World home.
Jake is renowned for his heart and is one of One World Jiu Jitsu’s fiercest competitors. At the same time, in the traditional “808 style”, Jake always remains mellow, calm, humorous and generous with his knowledge on-and-off the mat.
Jake Bell is a black belt under Mike Prudencio. He teaches the Wednesday Gi class and the Thursday No Gi class.
